Projection Screen Manufacturing Styles

Projection Screen Manufacturing Styles

Below you will see our five standard methods of screen construction. We can manufacture almost any shape (circles, triangles, ovals, trapezods, etc...) and size screen in our state-of-the-art workshop. Please inquire at 1-800-369-3695.

MODEL 0

Model 0 has vertical seams and unfinished edges. Seam centers are determined by the raw material width of the screen surface selected. Horizontal seams are suggested if screen is to be used on a roller mechanism.

MODEL 1

Model 1 is manufactured using vertical seams. Edge finish is as follows: heavy-duty vinyl reinforcement webbing with high-frequency welded plastic grommets 12" (30 cm) on center at the top, 1.57" (4 cm) high-frequency welded turned hem on the sides and a 6" (15 cm) pipe pocket on the bottom. Seam centers are determined by the raw material width of the screen surface selected. Vinyl webbing is 2.5" (6.5 cm) wide with the grommet hole center 1.25" (3 cm) from screen edge.

MODEL 2

Model 2 is the same as Model 1 except the side finish uses high-frequency welded vinyl webbing with plastic grommets 12" (30 cm) on center.

MODEL 3

Model 3 is manufactured using vertical seams and high-frequency welded vinyl webbing with plastic grommets 12" (30 cm) on center on all 4 sides. This style screen, also known as a lace and grommet screen, is designed to be tensioned within a rigid frame. We can provide our SPANNFIX 11" bungie hooks as a tensioning devise. Maximum stretch on the SPANNFIX is 21" (53 cm) as seen below. As a general rule, the screen should be sized approximately 12" (30 cm) smaller than the frame in the height and width dimesion.

MODEL 4

Model 4 is manufactured using vertical seams and high-frequency welded reinforced PVC webbing with snaps spaced 8" on center on all sides.

Shockcord Fastner - SpannFix

SPANNFIX, 11 inch Shockcord Fastner

  • Spannfix was designed to tension projection screens within a rigid frame.
  • Made of shockcord securely crimped into an almost indestructible plastic hook, these fasteners are being used throughout the entertainment industry.
  • Wherever two or more things need to be kept temporarily together, a Spannfix fastener can be employed.
  • They are fantastic as cable ties replacing the traditional tie line or copper wire twists.
  • Available in stock in white or black.

The Spannfix shockcord can also be used with our EasyFix clip that can be used to grab and hold virtually all fabrics, including synthetics, velours, muslins and scrims.
