Opera Print - Machine Printed Digital Scenery

Opera Print is a translucent, inherently flameresistant, full stage, photographic image produced by a computer assisted, digital, ink-jet printer. Photo-realistic reproductions are printed onto vertical panels of vinyl film which are then high-frequency welded together to create an apparently seamless image. By controlling the color and intensity of stage light projected onto the drop, designers can achieve a unique, time-lapse effect; day long sun movement and shadows, from dawn through noon, dusk and fading into night; ALL ON THE SAME IMAGE!

The following images were created for the Hamburg Ballet's world tour production of "Bernstein Dances". The Opera Print's measured 35' high x 62' wide. All lighting is from the back side thus creating a full stage light box. Dancers are able to perform directly down stage of the backdrop without casting unwanted shadows. When the production is finished, the Opera Print is folded and put into its carton and shipped to its next venue. Opera Print is portable and will hang out wrinkle-free in about 6-8 hours in 70 degree room temperature.

By changing lighting levels and color, the same Opera Print takes on a completely different look !

A different Opera Print image illustrates its photo-realisitc quality as if the back wall of the theatre was opened to reveal a steel girder building under construction.
